More people have been arrested for driving under the influence of drink or drugs in Clare so far this year, than in all of 2017.
The figures have come to light on European Day Without A Road Death, which has been organised by TISPOL, the European Traffic Police Network.
Project EDWARD sees Gardaí in Clare and across the country joining forces with their European counterparts today in an effort to reduce the number of road fatalities on out roads.
There has been a sharp rise in the number of deaths on Clare roads this year and Head of Roads Policing in the county, Inspector John Ryan is urging people to play their part in ensuring there aren’t any more:
