Clare GAA Chair To Run In General Election

The Chariman of Clare GAA has confirmed he's planning to contest the General Election.

Miltown Malbay man Michael "Malty" McDonagh has told Clare FM he's interested in running for the Dail and though he has a family background in Fianna Fail, he says he's still consulting friends and advisers over whether he'll seek the party's nomination in Clare.

The former detective Garda is expected to face competition from within the party for a place on the Fianna Fail ticket, with Dr. John Hillery, the son of former President Paddy Hillery from Spanish Point also expected to seek a nomination.
