Clare Fine Gael TDs Hopeful Of Junior Ministries

Details of The Taoiseach’s Junior Ministerial line-up are expected to emerge today with high hopes of Clare representation.

Fine Gael TDs Pat Breen and Joe Carey missed out on being appointed to cabinet last evening, but both will be hopeful of recognition when the junior ministeries are announced, perhaps as early as today.

In his first act in office, Enda Kenny gave himself a 14 thousand euro pay cut – and he’s also given the Departments of Justice and Transport two weeks to find the most cost effective method of Ministerial Transport.

Mr Kenny will today travel to Brussels for a meeting with the President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso.

Meanwhile, Clare’s four newly elected TDs have been asked to work together to provide much needed social housing for the Ennis area.

With around 1200 people on the local authority housing waiting list in the town, the Mayor of Ennis says it’s time for the new Minister for the Environment to provide much needed funds to help those waiting for family homes.

Councillor Tommy Brennan has wished Deputies Breen, McNamara, Carey and Dooley well in the 31st Dail but wants them to put the county above their parties in tackling local problems like housing.
