Clare is expected to escape the worst of the arctic bite later, though subzero temperatures are still expected overnight.
An orange low temperature and ice warning is in place for Clare and 15 other counties from 6 o’clock this evening until noon tomorrow.

Parts of East Clare were hit with temperatures as low as -8.5 degrees last night, though for most areas it was minus 4 and tonight is expected to be around the same.
Meteorologist with Met Éireann, Michelle Dillon, says milder conditions are on the way briefly for the weekend.
