Dentists in Clare collected over €1.3m in payments for treatments administered to medical cardholders in 2025.
New HSE figures show there was a marginal increase in the number of patients treated in this county last year.
Approximately 20,322 treatments were carried out in Clare last year under the Dental Treatment Services Scheme.
The 2.5% rise on treatments since 2024 may seem modest but means an additional 508 procedures were carried out in the county.
The vast majority of these were above the line treatments, which focus on the visible surface of teeth to remove plaque, tartar and stains to maintain good oral hygiene.
Just 3% of the treatments in Clare last year were below the line, which focus on deeper cleaning procedures which aim to prevent gum disease and bone loss.
The total value of treatments in this county last year came to just over €1,340,000, just €18,000 below the amount dentists were reimbursed for in 2024.
There are currently only 14 dentists in Clare providing services to medical cardholders, which is one more than this time last year.
