Clare County Dog Warden Says New Rules On Bull Breeds Will Be Enforced In New Year

Clare’s County Dog Warden believes greater availability of bull breeds is to blame for increased hospitalisation for dog bites.

It comes in the wake of a new study from the Irish Medical Journal, which found the number of people being treated in hospital for dog bites has more than doubled in the past decade, with three quarters of those treated for open wounds.

The study also found that 42% of the 3,158 people hospitalised between 2012 and 2021 had to undergo plastic surgery.
