Clare County Council is seeking assistance from the public to identify waterways commonly used by swimmers that are not currently designated as official bathing areas.
The local authority is hoping expand the number of official bathing areas to enhance water safety measures and enable these bodies of water to be tested in line with EPA guidelines.
Submissions can be made through the council website up until September 26th, where details can be given on the accessibility of the site and the number of people using the area.
Senior Executive Environment Engineer with Clare County Council, Brendan Flynn, says people should provide detail on water quality to allow the bathing area to reach the threshold for official status.
