Clare’s sole Green Councillor is warning of a ‘huge problem’ in recruiting paramedics and other healthcare professionals in the Midwest region.
It’s after the Department of Health told Clare County Council that ‘longer term capacity challenges’ will require increased recruitment following concerns raised by elected members.

A recruitment drive from the National Ambulance Service earlier this year saw an attempt to bring 96 paramedics on board, with just six people eventually accepting a place on a course.
Lahinch-based Green Councillor Liam Grant, who’s himself a trained paramedic, says it’s a symptom of the current jobs market.
