Clare Businesses Bearing Brunt Of Rate Reductions In Other Counties Says Councillor

A Clare Councillor says businesses here are bearing the brunt of commercial rate reductions in other counties.

The local authority is to consider a ten per cent reduction in rates in conjuction with rate equalisation measures in the upcoming budget but say it will be dependent on the impact the overall yearly spend.

Ennis area Councillor Tom Mc Namara says the reduction would benefit eighty per cent of business owners in the county, providing further growth in the economy and creating employment.

Councillor McNamara believes Clare businesses are continuing to suffer.
