Clare could become home of commemorations to remember the Great Famine next year.

The 2013 National Famine Commemoration is to be held in Munster, and Clare County Council has announced its intention to make a submission to host the event here in the county.
The Council is inviting local and community organisations, local Famine Commemoration Committees and other interested parties to propose a location
The National Famine Commemoration Day, an annual observance in Ireland commemorating the Great Famine, has been organised officially by the Government since 2009.
