Clare Animal Welfare is renewing calls to the local authority to implement a designated Animal Welfare Officer.
The charity organisation claims both Gardaí and the County Dog Warden were inundated with calls about animal abandoned or neglected animals across 2023.

In the last year alone, 226 dogs were surrendered to local pounds.
Director and Treasurer of Clare Animal Welfare, Stiofan Mac Gabhann says a specialist officer is urgently required to save vulnerable pets.
