Clare Accounted For 14% Of All Lost Nursing Home Beds Nationwide Between 2020 & 2022

It’s claimed that funding disparity between public and private nursing homes is leading to a loss of long-term beds in Clare.

A new ESRI Report on long term residential care published today has found that just 65% of nursing home beds in this county are private, with the remainder divided evenly between the public and voluntary sector.

Although bed prices here under the fair deal scheme are the lowest in the country at €970 per week, Clare has lost more than 50 bed spaces between 2020 and 2022.
