Claims that council now footing cost of overzoning

It’s claimed Clare County Council is now picking up the pieces after years of overdevelopment throughout the county.

That’s according to South East Clare Councillor Cathal Crowe who says real efforts ARE being made to straighten out planning in Clare before any new developments take place.

The Fianna Fail representative’s comments come in response to a recent report by An Taisce which described Clare as the most overzoned in the country and criticised "senseless residential zoning excesses" in Ennis during the boom.

Councillor Crowe says the signs of excess are obvious in places, but the Council is working hard to clean up its act.
