Claims New Rules On Vacant Properties Don’t Go Far Enough

Business owners who want to create homes in empty units over their shops won’t need planning permission.

The announcement is part of the Housing Minister’s plan to use up vacant commercial space, and tackle the housing shortage.

If passed, the updated law will create residential homes above shops without the need for approval first.
