Residents in the Springfield area of Clonlara have given a cautious welcomed to a proposed plan for permanent flood defenses.
Following severe flooding in the area over the last number of years, the OPW is proposing the construction of two large embankments and a nearby pumping station.
The plan, which has an estimated cost of €1 million, has been presented to local residents and one of those, Geradine Quinlivan says locals want the embankment to be completed before next winter.
