Cathaoirleach Urged To Reconvene Council Over Planned Crematorium In Shannon

The Cathaoirleach of Clare county Council is being asked to organise a special Council meeting on the planned crematorium in Shannon.

A public meeting last night saw discussions on the impact of the development, and organisers say two Councillors who had previously supported the project have now changed their minds and will no longer give it their backing.

Councillors had previously voted in favour of selling a 1.3 acre site at Illaunamanagh to developer Jim Cranwell for the development of the crematorium, but opponents say it's too small and not suitable.
