Fresh calls are being made for Shannon Group to acquire the disused Shannon Shamrock Hotel in Bunratty.
Previously known as Fitzpatrick’s Hotel, it closed down 10 years ago and has since been lying idle after failed attempts to secure an investor.

Councillor Pat McMahon has made calls in the past for the site to be purchased and renovated, and was a previously-mooted historical theme park to be built there.
Shannon Group has previously declined to invest in the site but the Fianna Fáil councillor feels that as it already owns many of the properties in the area, it’s in its best interests to purchase the hotel.
