It’s claimed burglars perpetrating tool theft in Clare are consistently getting away with a slap on the wrist.
It comes amid calls for a mandatory three-year prison sentence for anyone convicted of stealing tools.
The offence has been particularly prevalent in Clare with Gardaí most recently investigating an incident from last Thursday, where 5 power tools were stolen from a property in Newmarket-On-Fergus.

Galway Senator and former Carpenter PJ Murphy is proposing the mandatory three-year sentence.
He says the tradesmen are financially and emotionally devastated when thefts occur.
