Friends of Ennis Hospital Chair Angela Coll says an Urgent Care facility would free up beds in Limerick.
The Irish Medical Organisation meanwhile is calling for a targeted programme to recruit GPs in depleted areas, with the latest figures indicating Clare has one GP for every 2,200 people in the county.
Member of the IMO’s GP Committee, Lahinch based Doctor Michael Kelleher says more practices are urgently needed in the MidWest.
