A Clare-based MEP is calling on the Irish Government to urgently clarify what farms here will be affected by incoming regulations.
Under the Good Agricultural and Environmental Condition 2 scheme, farmers will be restricted from certain practices in order to protect carbon rich soils.
Farmers will also have to take measures to preserve soil health, including minimising tillage and reducing soil erosion.
Scariff Independent Member of European Parliament, Michael McNamara says the lack of clarity will cause problems.
