Calls for By Laws To Stop Illegal Dumping in Clare

Up to half of Clare Households are not accounting for how they're disposing of their rubbish, and it's claimed much of it could be dumped illegally. 

The issue was raised as Ennis Councillors studied the town's annual litter report which revealed just 13 fines out of 55 issued last year were actually paid.

Fine Gael's Johnny Flynn says many other people are paying the price for the lack of environmental responsibility shown by those who flout the litter laws – including local farmers and landowners who find waste dumped on their property.

He's calling for new by-laws to force everyone to dispose of household waste properly.
