There are calls for Clare’s County Dog Warden to be made an authorised officer in the county.
Currently the County Dog Warden has no power to enforce people to keep their animals under control or on a leash, but declaring the dog warden as an authorised officer would change this.
Mayor of Clare Mary Howard has called for the county’s bye-laws to amended to reflect the call, saying it’ s an important change as more people are out and about with their animals.
