A North Clare trail will collect its award today as Ireland's European Destination of Excellence.
The Burren Food Trail beat off competitors from Mayo, Waterford and Sligo to win the EDEN award that honours excellence and sustainability under the theme of tourism and local gastronomy.

The award will be presented by the Minister for Tourism and Sport Michael Ring at a ceremony in Hotel Doolin this afternoon which will also be attended by a number of representatives from across the continent.
The Burren Food Trail will go forward to represent Ireland at a European awards ceremony in Brussels in December.
