Clare’s Fianna Fáil TD believes the future of local radio stations could be secured, with a boost in revenue from the licence fee.
Timmy Dooley, who is his party’s Communication’s Spokeperson, has today launched the Independent Radio Stations Bill, which aims to provide additional supports for programming with a local or regional focus.
At the moment, only €11.63 out of the 160-euro licence fee goes towards independent stations, but most is ringfenced for specific projects.
