Belfast Politician Condemns Last Night’s Attacks

Those involved in violence in Belfast last night should be ashamed of themselves, according to a local politician.

Police are calling for calm after petrol bombs, bricks and bottles were thrown and a derelict building was set alight.

The disturbances erupted in the mostly nationalist Markets area after wood from a republican bonfire was removed by the council yesterday.

Sinn Féin’s Deirdre Hargey says the community doesn’t support the violence.
