Bathing Prohibitions Lifted At Spanish Point & White Strand Miltown Malbay

Clare County Council has lifted bathing prohibitions at both Spanish Point & White Strand Miltown Malbay.

Do not swim notices were erected at the popular beaches on Wednesday following the detection of high levels of bacteria in water samples at both locations.

In response to the incident, the Local Authority committed to increased daily monitoring of water quality at the sites.

On the advice of the HSE, the bathing restrictions were lifted this afternoon and the An Taisce blue flags which recognise standards of excellence are once again flying high at both beaches.

Statement From Clare County Council 

“Following additional investigative sampling and on the advice of the HSE, Clare County Council has today lifted the bathing prohibitions at both Spanish Point and White Strand Miltown Malbay.

In accordance with An Taisce’s Blue Flag programme, the Blue Flags at both bathing areas will be reinstated.”
