Barefield Carer Calls For Parents To Avail Of Illness Benefit To Care For Sick Children

A Barefield mother who is a full-time carer to her daughter believes parents should be able to access Illness Benefit when taking time off work to care for their sick children.

It comes as the Cabinet is to consider a draft bill this morning to improve work life balance, which includes a legal right to request flexible working hours and remote working for parents and carers of children up to age 12.

Ann Norton, who’s also the manager of Clare Crusaders Children’s Clinic, cares for her daughter Nicole who has cerebral palsy – often having to spend long stints in hospital.
