Banking Inquiry Meets In Private Session

The Banking Inquiry is meeting in private session to discuss legal advice on whether it can publish the statement of former Anglo boss David Drumm. 

Last night the DPP advised she opposes the statement being made public, but the inquiry has sought its own legal advice after previously agreeing to accept the written statement.

Earlier this week it had ruled out interviewing Mr Drumm by video link from the United States where he now lives. 

Today's hearing of witnesses – including friend and advisor to former Taoiseach Brian Cowen, Fintan Drury – has been pushed back while the inquiry deals with the issue of the Drumm statement.
