Back Up Water System Given Go-Ahead

Old village pumps in South East Clare could soon be restored to act as a back-up plan for water outages.

Shannon Area Councillors have given their backing to a joint project between Clare County Council and Irish Water to carry out works in six villages, at an estimated cost of around 1,000 euro per pump.

The village of Parteen has experienced 11 water outages over a 12 month period as a result of improvement works, during which time water tankers have been sent out by the local authority.
