The Shannon region’s been hit by another jobs blow.

IT firm Avocent has confirmed its seeking over a dozen redundancies from its operations in the Shannon Free Zone.
In a statement to Clare FM the US Multinational, which employs 105 staff at its base in the county says its informed workers of plans for a collective redundancy in its Operations and Sales departments.
Its set to affect 13 staff , effective immediately.
A company spokesperson said the cuts were no reflection on the quality of the employees affected but is designed to enhance competitiveness, reduce cost structures, and improve efficiency in a very competitive market.
