Clare’s Independent TD is accusing the government of ‘making the same announcement twice’ on funding for Shannon Airport.
The Airport has been allocated 6.3 million euro under the Covid-19 Regional State Airports Programme – but the money comes from a previously announced package of supports for Cork and Shannon.
It’s believed while the funding itself was ringfenced for Shannon capital projects, it had to apply to the Department of Transport for the support before it was subsequently confirmed.

Scarriff-based Deputy Michael McNamara, while welcoming the funding, says a more detailed plan needs to be developed as to how Shannon Airport will emerge from the pandemic.
