Anne Doherty insists A&E changes at Ennis General are best for patients

The CEO of the Mid Western Hospital group believes patient services in Ennis General will be better delivered through the establishment of local injuries unit and medical assessment unit.

Outlining the service plan for 2013 Anne Doherty rejected the term "downgrading" in reference to the future status of the current A&E at Clare’s County Hospital and insisted plan changes are in line with best practice.

Ms Doherty pointed out that there hasn’t been an emergency department at Ennis General for some time and the HSE is looking to provide the appropriate care in the appropriate setting.
