Anger As Appeal For Aldi Store In Shannon Is Thrown Out

Anger is being expressed in Shannon after An Bord Pleanála’s decision to throw out an appeal to build an Aldi supermarket there.

Clare County Council rejected the planning application from the German supermarket giant a year ago, after two objections were lodged, including one submitted on behalf of the Skycourt Shopping Centre.

An appeal was lodged against the decision and despite An Bord Pleanála’s inspector recommending it go ahead, the board has turned it down.
