Stocking Density Targets Driving Clare Land Prices

The chairman of Clare IFA says pressure on farmers to bring stocking density down is driving an increase in the price of land in the county.

The cost of farm land is expected to increase by eight per cent in 2023, according to the latest Teagasc Agriculture Land Market report.

In 2022 prices for land on holdings under 50 acres were €8,813 on average in Clare, while prices for poor quality land were €4,125 on average.
