Protest Continues At Clare Meat Processing Factory

Meat processing plants throughout the country have ground to a halt as farmers continue their round-the-clock protests over prices.

The Kepak plant in Drumquin is among those who have seen trade fall off considerably, and Meat Industry Ireland says the action has led to temporary staff lay-offs and the closure of 14 plants.

Dozens of Clare farmers continued to stage a demonstration in Drumquin last night, despite rainy conditions and the decision by the Beef Plan Movement to formally withdraw from the site.
