A Clare Fine Gael Senator says the delay in choosing a third candidate to run for the party may impact on that persons chances in the upcoming general election.

Martin Conway withdrew from the running at the party's convention last month after sitting TDs Pat Breen and Joe Carey were added to the ticket.

But the Ennistymon-based Senator has expressed his intention to run as a third candidate and feels it’s unfair that the decision on who will represent the party in Clare is being dragged out.
