86 On Trolleys At UHL As Number Of Covid Patients Continues To Reduce

Nurses say the region’s main hospital remains the busiest in the country once again.

The latest INMO figures show there were 86 patients waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 43 of those on trolleys in the Emergency Department.

The overall figure is down 9 on yesterday’s figures and is 30 more than the next busiest facility.

Meanwhile, the number of Covid patients at the hospital is continuing to reduce.

The HSE has reported that 72 patients who’ve tested positive for the virus are being treated at the Dooradoyle facility this morning, down 6 in 24 hours, while the number in intensive care remains unchanged.

Nationally, there’s been a 15 per cent drop in patients testing positive in hospitals and HSE Chief Executive Paul Reid says the situation is improving.
