Clare County Council has conducted over 8,600 observations of its tenancies since January of this year.

The Tenancy Enforcement team carries out regular patrols of council housing estates and Traveller sites and the local authority claims it has a very visible presence to manage and mitigate antisocial behaviour.

However between the 23rd of September and 25th of October, the county council received 88 anti-social behaviour complaints.

This brings the total number of such complaints stemming from housing estates this year to 752.

In this timeframe the Tenancy Enforcement Office of the local authority carried out 34 inspections of its properties, which resulted in 19 tenancies being issued with a warning notice.

Three council tenants indicated their intentions to abandon their houses last month while the council also collected keys from the same number of casual vacancies, which arise when the occupant passes away or moves out.

Additionally at the end of October 56 council properties were vacant, including 11 units in traveller accommodation, 13 projects and 32 casual vacancies.
