More than 700 operations were cancelled by the UL Hospitals Group in the last six weeks.
The Irish Examiner reports patients scheduled for day case and inpatient surgical procedures at University Hospital Limerick, Ennis and Nenagh hospitals were among those affected.
It follows particularly serious overcrowding in the new year, with record numbers of patients left waiting hours of a bed.
