67 Percent Jump In Buildings Under Construction In Clare So Far This Year

The number of buildings under construction in Clare in June of this year has increased by almost 67% on the same time last year.

That’s according to the latest GeoView Residential Buildings Report – which monitors the stock of residential properties in Ireland.

The report highlights the considerable ramp-up in construction activity and housing commencements that’s taken place since all residential building sites re-opened on April 12th.

In Clare, 437 buildings were reported to be under construction in June of this year – an increase of over two thirds on the same period last year where 262 units were in the works.

In addition to this, there were 636 new addresses registered in this county last month- a rise of over 75% compared to last June.

Despite this, Clare ranks 14th in relation to the percentage of state construction, with Dublin seeing the most activity.

Meanwhile, the vacancy rate in Clare this June stands at 6.5% – higher than the national average of 4.5%.

Holiday homes make up 6.5% of the housing stock in this county according to the latest figures – placing Clare as the 6th highest county in Ireland with such stock.

Nationally the number of residential property transactions is yet to bounce back to pre-pandemic levels, however Clare has faired better than the national decrease of 6.5% in the number of properties sold, recording only a 1.3% drop in sales.
