57% Of Properties Matched To Ukrainian Families Under Clare’s Offer A Home Scheme

Almost 300 Ukrainians have been accommodated in Clare under the Offer a Home scheme.

Clare County Council has revealed that over 120 properties have been submitted for potential use so far this year.

The local authority’s latest monthly management report shows that 263 Ukrainian refugees who had previously been living in hotel or multi-unit accommodation have now been re-settled in unoccupied homes in the county.

The council has received 123 offers under the Offer a Home scheme so far this year, with 57% being successfully matched to Ukrainian families.

All bar two of the properties submitted for use have been assessed, of those that have been surveyed, 30 have been withdrawn after the homeowner either had a change in circumstances or the dwellings were deemed unsuitable.

A further nine properties have not yet been vacated by the occupier and as such are not yet available.

However, the Local Authority has noted a decrease in monthly offers and of the sixteen viable houses remaining, 44% are understood to be located in rural areas of West Clare , 22% are located in the Ennis Electoral area, with 33% located in East Clare.

To date Clare County Council has explored over 350 expressions of interest from Ukrainian families hoping to move into residence offered under the offer a home scheme.
