The HSE is being called on to return beds at a prominent Clare nursing home to their appropriate use.
New figures obtained by the Social Democrats show 38 of Cahercalla Community Hospital’s beds were used for step down purposes last year, aimed at alleviating overcrowding at University Hospital Limerick.

There were a further 16 beds used countywide, across Dominic Savio Nursing Home, Athlunkard, Ennis and Carrigoran.
MidWest Hospital Campaign Co-Founder Hilary Tonge says there’s been a serious lack of consultation on the matter.
