35% Drop In Number Of Covid Patients At Region’s Main Hospital In Past Fortnight

The number of covid patients at the region’s main hospital has dropped by 35% in the past fortnight.

The latest report from the HSE shows there were 68 patients who tested positive for the virus admitted at University Hospital Limerick this morning, down from 105, 14 days ago.

The number climbed steadily over the weekend however, with an additional 8 Covid positive patients there today, compared to last Friday.

Nationally, 1,081 people with covid are currently receiving treatment is hospitals, which’s down roughly 33 percent in the past two weeks.

Meanwhile, trolley numbers have dipped significantly at UHL today, though it’s still by far the busiest hospital in the country.

The latest INMO figures show there were 71 patients waiting for beds there this morning, 30 of those in the Emergency Department.

The overall figure is down from 98 yesterday.
