30km Speed Difference In Road Spanning Clare/Limerick Border Needs To Be Addressed – O’Gorman”

A South East Clare Councillor is calling for a co-ordinated approach between Clare and Limerick’s local authorities in setting the speed limit on a Meelick road.

Representatives of the Shannon Municipal District have heard calls for a review of the speed limit on the Pass Road in the village this week, which runs between the two counties.

Currently, the section of the road on the Limerick side of the border is set at 50 kilometres per hour, however motorists are allowed to travel at 80 once they cross the border into Clare.

Fianna Fail Councillor O’Gorman says it’s inconceivable that the part of the road in this county could see such speeds.
