Over 2,800 pupils across Clare will begin their Leaving and Junior Cert exams this morning.
Nationally just over 124,000 second level students are preparing to sit the state examinations.
First up this morning it’s English Paper One for the thousands of students beginning their Junior and Leaving Cert examination journey.
Here in Clare, 1292 students are sitting the Leaving Cert with an additional 83 beginning the Leaving Cert Applied.
Of that number, 710 are girls and 665 are boys.
Meanwhile 1487 students also begin their Junior Certificate exams with English and Civic, Social and Political Education on the timetable today.
In a bid to alleviate pressure on Leaving Cert candidates by eliminating subject clashes as much as possible, this year’s exam timetable has been extended from 13 days to a total of 15
The final exams of Japanese, Politics and Society and Arabic will be held on Tuesday 25th June.
