233 Serious Reportable Incidents In Irish Healthcare Service

There were 233 serious reportable incidents in Irish healthcare providers over the course of just 19 months, which resulted in 100 deaths.

The findings are included in a report published on Serious Reportable Incidents by the HSE.

Some 174 of the cases happened in hospital, 28 in mental health services and 30 in social care, such as nursing homes.

Sixteen of the deaths involved babies, and three happened in a nursing home.

The incidents were recorded over a 19 month period between March 2014 and September 2015.
