147 Admitted Patients Left Waiting For Beds At University Hospital Limerick Today

A record number of patients were left waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning.

The latest analysis from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation shows there were 147 admitted patients on trolleys or chairs at the Dooradoyle facility this morning.

It’s the highest number ever recorded in the month of September by the nurses’ union, with that figure only exceeded once since records began, in February last year, when trolley numbers hit 150.

The overall figure is four times higher than the next busiest facility today; Sligo University Hospital and is 45 more than all ten hospitals serving the east of the country combined.
