This week’s guest on In Profile with Alan Morrissey is James Lafferty.
James will be known to many people as the Clare Area Treasurer with the Irish Red Cross.
James has done great work with them, including being the driving force behind the raising of funds for and the subsequent purchase of a community multi-purpose support vehicle, a minibus which can be transformed to an ambulance if needed, to bring people to their medical appointments or to help elderly people go on days out free of charge.
James has also been recognised for his work with the Irish Red Cross with a Volunteer of the Year Award.
He has also faced adversity in his life, no more so than in 2007, when he went through the horrific ordeal of being kidnapped and held captive for six days in Ghana.
James’ story is a fascinating one which you won’t want to miss.
