Former Clare Munster Championship Winner Urges On Field Focus In Overcoming “Unjustified” Seeding Of Provincial Football Championship

A former Munster football championship winner with Clare says while opposition to the return of the seeded draw will continue at political level, the focus on the field must be on finding the improvements to overturn the standings.

Clare, Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford are still assessing their options in the wake of the vote to separate the two highest ranked league teams in the semi finals of the provincial championship for the next three years.

As things stand, Kerry and Cork occupy those two positions, with the vote meaning the other four counties will face quarter-final ties, despite Clare reaching the last three finals in a row.

Miltown native Carl Walsh, whose father Noel was instrumental in securing an open draw in the Munster football championship, feels players should use the decision as motivation to overturn the league standings.
