Brendan passed away peacefully after a short illness in UCHG, surrounded by the love of his family. It is a comfort to know that Brendan passed on 24th February – the day that would have been his precious daughter Laura’s 40th birthday – as though he was called home to be with her.
A devoted and much-loved husband, soulmate and best friend to Patricia, a proud and adored Dad to Yvonne and Sandra, and a fun-loving Grandad to Shay, Leo, Louis and Daithí, who brought him endless joy. He will be deeply missed by his sons-in-law Patrick and David.
Predeceased by his cherished daughter Laura, his beloved sister Rose and his treasured brother Kevin.
Sadly missed by his brother Michael, sisters Angela and Anita, sister-in-law Maura Madden, brothers-in-law Michael Brennan and Pat Kilkenny, and his beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and the many friends and relatives whose lives he touched.
Brendan was one of life’s true characters – a wonderful husband, father, grandad, brother, uncle and loyal friend. His loud, infectious laugh could be heard long before he was seen, and he never missed the chance to tell a good (or wonderfully bad) joke.
He had a lifelong love of horses and sport, and nothing made him prouder than standing on the sideline watching his boys play hurling. He never missed a match.
He leaves behind a lifetime of stories, laughter and love that will be treasured forever by all who knew him.
May his wonderful soul rest in eternal peace and joy.
Reposing at St Anne’s Church, Shanaglish, on Friday 27th February from 5pm to 7pm. Mass to Celebrate the Life of Brendan will take place on Saturday 28th February at 12 noon, followed by laying to rest in the new cemetery, Shanaglish beside his daughter Laura.
All traffic attending the removal of Brendan are requested to enter via Marcus Motors and exit via Keane’s Cross or Crossford.
